REKSTAD  GLASS

norwegian style artisan glass

I was introduced to glass in the arts at the 1967 Worlds fair in Monrtreal. The influence of works by Stanislav Libensky and Jaroslava Brychtova, and Calder's steel monumental structures surfaced years later in my own work and my interest with metal sculptor David Smith. Growing up in upstate New York I found every opportunity to visit Corning and study the defining works that would emerge in the next two decades.

Influenced by my father I studied Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Physics at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. There, I pioneered the computer graphics lab and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1989.  Blowing glass is a perfect combination of art and science.

Currently I work as an inventor, product manager, hold one patent and 17 provisional patents, and innovate in glass. I've attained international recognition in my art.
